Hola!

My name is Megan- this is my first entry on Trek.  I would like to introduce myself without boring you, and hope that you will check back as I update with my preparations, and eventually tales from the trail.

I am 29 years old, married, with one dog.  My husband, Ian and I call the Pacific Northwest home.  In 2016 we decided to sell practically everything we owned, buy an RV, and travel around the USA.  In January 2017 our plan became our reality, and as of today we have traveled nearly 15,000 miles, visited 17 states, ate at 7 different BBQ joints, and witnessed one birth, along with many other adventures.

I’m not sure when I decided I want to hike the Appalachian Trail, but since being on our Coddiwomple*, it has become evident that this is the right time.  I had originally been planning for a NOBO attempt, but our current timeline puts us in Maine in late July to early August, and I could practically start a SOBO hike.  If I pass this up for the hike I have previously been dreaming of, I could end up never actually going through with this.  Therefore, I registered to Start My A.T. Thru-Hike At Katahdin in Baxter State Park.  There is still plenty of time for this plan to change, perhaps to a flip-flop hike, but for now I am moving forward with plans to start in Maine.
