What the New Year Brings

So who am I? My name is Jamie Marsden. I am currently a physical therapy student that will be completing my doctorate degree this May 2016! Board exams are in July.   The day after boards? I hit the trail with an old college friend of mine, Carrie Yehle! I cannot wait!

This has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. My first real adventure on the AT started when I was only 7 years old. My father and my uncle had taken me up the Ammonoosuc trail, heading up the west/north side of Mount Washington. We stayed at the legendary Lakes of the Clouds hut, then traversed down the south/east side of Mount Washington, following Tuckerman’s Ravine trail. I don’t remember much of that trip, but what I do remember, or know from many stories, will be told in a different post. It is a story that bears repeating!

As I embark on this adventure of a lifetime, I will be leaving my beloved cats in the hands of my phenomenal and very supportive love, Frankie Mazza. Without his wonderful support, and the support of my friends and family, this trip would not be possible. I thank all of you in advance for your support, your good wishes, and your company (for those of you who may be joining us on sections).

As this New Year rolls in, Carrie and I will be hard at planning our trip;

  • gathering the right equipment
  • cooking/dehydrating/and packaging our meals in advance
  • putting together packages for the mail
  • figuring out where those packages need to go
  • making sure we are in tip/top shape
  • etc. etc. etc.

Here’s to an exciting trip in our future and time well spent with friends and family prior to our trip. Every day we have together will be a wonderful memory for me on those cold, rainy, windy nights/days on the trail. Our times together will help propel me through this trip when my hopes wane.

Thank you again, all of you, for the many years of memories (or at least what memories my sieve for a brain will hold) that will help me fulfill my goal of completing the AT, starting July of 2016!
