Why Am I Hiking

There’s nothing quite like travel and the outdoors. I got so inspired last year in India while doing a 10-day silent retreat on the Introduction to Buddhism. I do not consider myself a Buddhist, but I did learn a lot from the course and more importantly the people I met while at the course. The connections I made and their inspirational journeys have made me explore what I want out of my life. This journey for me will continue on the Appalachian Trail and the months leading up to the trip. I will be sharing those stories here in the hopes of helping me grow, as well as, maybe inspiring you to explore your own paths. Join me for this magnificent ride we call life.

I am 74. As a kid I went to school and hitched hiked Europe at 15. At 20 I hitched hiked around the world at 20. At 25 I hitched hiked from Capetown to Cairo. 1998 northwest passage. I found trips over 6 months for me were negative. I also have half completed a canoe trip from Duluth to Jacksonville Fl. A week or two at different times. With these adventures I have goals of balance and normal balanced day to day life. Been on 6 different outward bound trips, first at 35. Highly recommend OB and co-Ed trips.
