Hi! My name is Melanie but on trail I go by Peanut. Elephants are my favorite. Coffee is both a necessity and a passion. I like music festivals and craft beer. Franklin, TN. is my hometown, but the mountains of NC have my heart. Radley is my dog and the best hiking partner. I earned my Masters in Appalachian Studies from Appalachian State University in August of 2015. I've been studying Appalachian mountain culture for the past two years, researching the practices of serpent handling churches. After attending school for twenty straight years I decided I needed a new adventure. I started my NOBO thru hike at Springer on March 23rd with my boo Radley and we're having a blast!
