The One With A Deer Crossing

Locals take great pride in their Key Deer population. One way of showing this, busy intersections show the number of deer killed by automobiles in the past and current year.
If officials are actively trying to increase the key deer populations, why would they put a sign encouraging deer to cross a busy highway — and the NOT install the “zebra stripe” crosswalk?
Hope the deer know to look left before crossing the road.
Now this is the type of deer crossing for I was talking about — zebra stripes flashing lights, the works!
Unfortunately, it’s restricted to pedestrians.
