You Should Join Backpacker Magazine and Help Hike the AT in a Day
The following is a guest post courtesy of Backpacker Magazine’s, Casey Lyons.
Get in on the longest trail party on June 20, 2015. You already love the AT. If you haven’t hiked the whole thing, and you’re not doing it right now, you plan to do it soon. At one point, it was one of the most important things in your life. It is the place of dreams – equal parts a setting of joy as misery, and sometimes both. Sometimes both in the same mile.
You talk about the AT, you think about it, you read every single post on this site. And now it’s time to share that love with the wider world.
On June 20, 2015, Backpacker magazine is holding a single-day event to collectively hike every single mile on the trail. Why? Because it’s fun, it’s there, it’s ours, and it’s time to make a public show of appreciation.
Register for one of 331 trail sections average about 6 miles a pop, but ranging from .8 mile to 25. There’s one near you, because, well, this is the AT.
You already care about the AT. You know how awesome it is. If you can’t be bothered to come out and demonstrate that, who will? Gather your friends, gather your enemies, tell your cousin four states away to do his part, and let’s make this mega demonstration of AT love something people will talk about forever!
Register at backpacker.com/ATday and join us on June 20, 2015.
