Back in Saddle

Please cue only the Aerosmith version!

While it only been eight days, it’s been a long eight days since I left the trail at Fontana Dam. After over 2,000 miles on the road, I’m ready to return to the simplicity of the trail.

Due to convenience, logistics, etc., I’m returning to the trail from Hot Springs, North Carolina, almost 100 miles north of Fontana Dam. My journey to Hot Springs came after an overnight at the Green Pea Hostel in Asheville. Both the hostel and city are highly recommended! I wished that I could have stayed longer!

I’ve got to give a huge shout out to the Blue Ridge Hiking Company. Not only did they open up their Asheville store specifically for me to replace my sleeping system. Also, their Hot Springs hostel, The Appalachian Trail-er Bunkhouse, was incredibly comfortable!

Now I find myself facing that same nervous tension that felt at the start in Amicalola. See you in Erwin, Tennessee!
