Damascus to Mile 571

First of all, as Hank would say, thanks for reading!

Well, it’s been 6 days since Damascus and 100 miles logged. The scenes, views, and vistas continue to amaze me.

All the while meeting great people from every corner of the world. Tented Friday after a 23-mile day next to Jim, an expat living in Peru.

Said goodbye for now to my hiking buddy Skiptown as I was laid up for a few in Damascus, buy hiked this week with another German from Cologne, Jaeger, along with a 60-year-old from San Diego by way of West Virginia and Ohio. I named him Meister. The other fellow hikers in our group were Tommy from St. Louis and Bootlips from Memphis, who finished his section hike to go spend Mother’s Day with his 100-year-old Mom in Richmond. He gave me his knee brace, which was a great gift.

Ran into Scribe again today after a week and met another Aussie couple, Hammer and Corky, on the other end of Lick Creek, which we had to cross in bare feet as the bridge was destroyed by falling trees.

It felt amazing.

Planned on taking a zero today, but it didn’t work out, so next planned stop is in Pearisburg. Mile 636.

Looking to get there by Thursday afternoon.

Until then.

I miss you, Dolly! Happy Mother’s Day!!
