Day 70

Day 70, 7/7/23

Snickers Gap to Appalachian Trail Conservancy

19.2 miles, mile 1,025.4

We made it to the unofficial halfway point, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. When you get there, they take your photo out front, print it off, and have you write your name, trail name, direction you’re going, where you are from, the day you started, and the day you got to Harpers Ferry. It was fun to look through the book and see who we know that is a couple days ahead of us. I’m very happy to be done with Virginia. It was so long and really hard. Although now I’m back in Virginia at Uncle Ryans, I can’t escape this damn state. We didn’t have any views again today except going over the Potomac River at the end, which was pretty. It was another extremely hot day, which I think will continue to be the case for the remainder of this hike. Thankfully, the hiking today was easier than the other day, so I’m not as dead now. I’m beyond grateful for these last couple days with a shower, pool, and bed for me to come back to. Sunday will be a rude awakening. We are having venison for dinner that Uncle Ryan hunted, which I’m excited for. I’ll get some good protein in from that!

Cool, an engineer, just like the Famous hiker John Zahorrian. I think will be great to vicariously follow along. Thanks
Hope you have a grand adventure.
