I’m Baaacckk….!
Yes! The waiting is over. Tomorrow I’ll be rejoining my sweetie, Buttermeister, in Daleville, VA and resuming my thru-hike!
I finally was able to see an orthopedic doctor by going to a walk-in sports medicine clinic at a local hospital. He gave me advice and some knee exercises and finally told me “come back and see me after you finish your hike!”
Some sad news — Wigglebutt (aka Bodhi) will not be joining us, at least until we get to Vermont or New Hampshire. Hiking in the heat, especially with water sources few and far between, is just not fair to him. I will miss him so much! Luckily he’ll be staying at home with our younger son, Alex, who is housesitting for us.
I’m so excited and more than a little anxious.

I’m so glad you got cleared to get back on the trail! Sorry that the Wigglebutt won’t be joining you but I know how hot and humid it can get down south. Stay hydrated you two! Looking forward to more updates from the trail.
