AT | I missed the Overmountain Shelter on my NOBO thru hike so I made sure to check it out on my way south. The views were beautiful. ? The shelter itself was so cool. When I arrived, there were about 75 Boy Scouts along with their scout leaders. The smaller pack took interest in my thru hike, and even offered me a tortilla with peanut butter and pepperoni. I had to kindly decline and explain that my thru hike ruined peanut butter and pepperoni for me lol (ate too much of it!) I did notice that a majority of the boys weren’t practicing #LNT which was disappointing. Wrappers and crumbs everywhere… I wasn’t sure if I should’ve said something but I did some research, and the Boy Scouts recently started implementing LNT values as best they can. ?

Day 121 // 19.3 // 1650.4 Trail looking fine today! ?? Miles seem to fly by when it’s nice out & the terrain is graded well. Definitely digging Virginia! Even had a surprise walk past a gas station so I got ice cream and coke ? The AT is such an interesting backcountry experience… you’ll go days passing just gravel roads and squirrels and then road walk over an interstate the next! ?? #at2018 #atclassof2018 #appalachiantrail #appalachiantrail2018 #aspiringthruhiker #thruhiker #thetrek #optoutside #adventurousals #forceofnature #backpacking #hikertrash #trektheat #mtnchicksdoitbetter #whyihike #thruhikersyndicate #idhikethatcrew #keepnaturewild #withguthooks #guthookguides #atlasguides #wekeepyououtdoors #SOBO #everytrailconnects #bpmag #takemebackpacking #trailchat #virginia
