My name is Dillon, trail name "Enigma".My favorite trail snack is gorp. Favorite trail magic is either fresh fruit or craft beer, depends on the day. Ice cream is also on the list. This year I am thruhiking The Pyrenees High Route (HRP) and The Via Dinarica Trail (VDT)
Posts
Via Dinarica Week 6! Bosnian Beauty.
I had a blast (luckily not literally, though that would happen a couple days later...)
Via Dinarica Week 5! Halfway Thru.
Crossing through both the Croatian and Bosnian checkpoints I had no hassle whatsoever.
Via Dinarica Week 4! Including A Vacation From This “Vacation”
I had been eyeing the island Dugi Otok for a while, both on the map and from the mountains.
Via Dinarica Week 3! Croatian Karst and Community.
I mentioned I had finished the HRP earlier this summer, and they said two good friends of theirs had also, just recently! I had stayed at a shelter with a couple Czech guys... and of course they were the same people.
Via Dinarica Week 2! Entering Croatia.
Then it was time to leave Slovenia. The border crossing is a quiet one, I only saw a couple cars go through while I was there, and I was unfortunately there for a good while....
Via Dinarica!??! First Week!!!
This trail leads one through Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and cuts the corners of Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo.
Pyrenees High Route (HRP) – A Microstate And A Sunrise Summit (D35-39)
I set my alarm for 3.45 so that I could be on the move by 4.30. Yup, it was to be a sunrise summit mostly or entirely done in darkness led only by the light of my headlamp.
Pyrenees High Route (HRP) – Salardú To The Door of Andorra (D28-34)
This day was originally planned as a big one with a pass crossing from Spain into France, then another pass crossing from France into Andorra. However, hiking doesnt always go as planned. This is especially the case when you wake in the morning to thunder, lightning, and heavy rain.
High Route Pyrenees (HRP) – Cabins, Storms, and Lots of Lakes! (D24-27)
Banasque was good to me but a hiker's gotta hike!
High Route Pyrenees (HRP) – A Few Mellow Days, and One Full of Snow Travel (D20-23)
I decided why not camp there and enjoy wasting away a long afternoon in the highcountry!?!
